Sign up for the 2019 Adult Summer Reading Program

Between May 28 and July 31, track your reading, listening and watching and whenever you participate in one of the activities or events listed on this page.  Everything you do will count towards one entry into a Grand Prize drawing for one of 10 gifts.

 You can participate in the Summer Reading program by registering online using Beanstack or by filling out paper forms at the library.


Ralston Scavenger Hunt - May 28 to July 31

Find a new Ralston location every week.  First, decipher the clues.  Clues are posted every Tuesday on Facebook and on our website.

Next, visit the location.  There you will be given a code.  Each code you collect is worth one entry into Grand Prize Drawing.

Tai Chi for Better Balance - June 3, 10, 17, 24, & July 1

Meets Monday morning from 9 AM to 10 AM on June 3, 10, 17, 24, and July 1

People attending a session will be allowed into the library before it opens.  Everyone will be asked to fill out both a medical history and a waiver form.



Solve the Breakout Box

Up for a challenge? Start with 3 clues and 3 locked boxes. Be clever and quick, because you only have 45 Minutes to unlock the boxes and unlock your prize!

Ask library staff for the Breakout Box the next time you visit the library.

Constellation of the Week - May 28 to August 31

Once a week between May 31 and July 31, we will post part of a star chart. Figure out what the constellation of the week is and tell the librarians at the Circulation desk.  If you’re right, you will earn an extra entry into the prize drawing for the Adult Summer Reading Program!

Hint: The Circulation desk has a book you can look at to help you figure it out.

Upcoming Events

Lunch & Learn: Mindfulness - Thursday, June 13 12-1PM

Learn about mindfulness and techniques that can help you in your everyday life. The presenter, Linda Dempsey, is a Program Specialist for CHI Health Henry Lynch Cancer Center. She works with patients across the CHI Health System for help in dealing with the emotional aspects of a cancer diagnosis. Dempsey specializes in support group facilitation and provides individual support for patients and families.

Meet Sally Walker - Sunday, June 23, 2 PM

Meet Sally Walker, author of “Learn Screenwriting” and “Desert Time.” Walker is an adjunct professor of screenwriting at a local community college and has taught writing seminars for over 30 years. Come hear a short presentaton on how any busy person can incorporate writing into life and look over Walker’s 2019 releases!

Adult Game Night, Tuesday, June 11 & July 9, 7-8:30 PM

Join us for an evening of fun and games in the library’s meeting room. We have board games, but you may bring your own board game or video console.


Lunch & Learn: Lauritzen Gardens - Thursday, July 11, Noon to 1:00 PM

Join us for an informative and colorful presentation given by a member of the garden’s speakers bureau.  They will discuss the history of the garden, and provide a virtual tour of the gardens, visitor and education center. Also, they will discuss the details of upcoming garden events, garden memberships and more.

Fourth Monday Night Book Club

Monday, June 24, 6:30 - 7:30 PM

We will meet in the library’s Meeting Room to discuss this month’s selection, The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. 

Don’t have the book?  You can borrow one of our copies.



Summer Reading Program participants who come to either the June or July meeting can earn one entry in the Grand Prize drawing.
